Dobbs Hats: An American Legacy Since 1908

Dobbs started making hats in New York in 1908. Five generations later, they still use the same felt-blocking techniques. Their Fifth Avenue fedora has been in continuous production since 1947. As an authorized retailer, we currently stock 22 Dobbs styles ranging from traditional fedoras to casual trilbys. Most use rabbit fur felt with grosgrain ribbon bands. Sizes 6¾ through 8.

Signature Styles: Fedoras & Homburgs

Dobbs is best known for the classic Fedora, often featuring a wider brim and high crown that recalls the 1940s aesthetic. They are also one of the few remaining heritage makers of the authentic Homburg Hat (The "Godfather" style), featuring the iconic pencil-curl brim and gutter crown for formal occasions.

Materials: From 5th Avenue to Your Door

Quality starts with the felt. Dobbs utilizes premium Wool Felt for warmth and durability in the winter, and intricate Milan Straw or Hemp braids for breathable summer wear. Many of their premium lines feature leather sweatbands and satin linings, details that have remained consistent since their founding in 1908.

Fit Guide: How does a Dobbs Hat fit?

Dobbs hats generally run true to size, offering a classic oval fit. Most models use standard sizing (6 7/8 to 7 5/8) rather than Small/Medium/Large, allowing for a more precise, tailored fit. We recommend measuring your head circumference and consulting our Sizing Guide to match your exact measurement to the Dobbs size chart.
